Because the "ginger gene" is on the X chromosome, approximately three-quarters of orange cats are male, making ginger girls fairly rare.
Anectdotally, orange kitties are known for being docile, friendly, quiet, and even lazy, making ginger girl cats a great choice for people who want a laid-back and affable female feline.
